Kaelyn Magee was born in Carmel, California and began her ballet training at age seven with local teachers. At age ten, she began studying at the Studio School of Classical Ballet upon invitation from Diane Cypher and Robert Kelley, and soon afterwards joined Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre. During the summers, she attended intensives at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and Pacific Northwest Ballet School on scholarship. Kaelyn joined Utah Regional Ballet in 2008 and was promoted to principal dancer in 2009, and performed Alan Hineline’s Resolute for the opening ceremonies of Regional Dance America Pacific held in Utah. With Utah Regional Ballet, she performed various principal roles in many full-length ballets, including:George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht, Jacqueline Colledge’s Romeo and Juliet, Peter Pan, the Sugarplum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Swanhilda in Coppelia, Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the role of Medora in Le Corsaire Pas de deux, and Odette in Swan Lake, as well as various contemporary works.
Since joining Ballet Arizona in 2014, Kaelyn has been featured in Ib Andersen’s La Bayadere, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, and The Sleeping Beauty. She has performed in the U.S. premiere of Bournonville’s Napoli, and has enjoyed dancing George Balanchine’s Walpurgishnacht, Symphony in Three Movements, Rubies, Western Symphony, and Square Dance.
