Roman entered the Bolshoi Ballet Academy at age 10, and was performing with the Bolshoi Company by age 13. He completed his pre-professional training at the schools of Pennsylvania Ballet and Boston Ballet, joining Boston Ballet II in 2004. The following season he became a member of American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company, and joined Boston Ballet for the 2005–06 season. In 2006 Roman studied on scholarship at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia furthering his training in performance, modern dance and dramatic arts. Since joining Ballet Arizona in 2007, Roman has danced principal roles in Ib Andersen’s The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker, and the title roles in Balanchine’s Prodigal Son and Apollo. Roman’s soloist work includes roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, and Andersen’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Romeo and Juliet, also Balanchine’s La Sonnambula, The Four Temperaments, and La Valse. Roman originated a role in Andersen’s Diversions which was performed at the Kennedy Center in D.C.
