Growing up in Quito, Ecuador, dancing and music formed Rommel Oramas from an early age. He stumbled into Argentine Tango in 2000 and his first significant tango experience was a festival in Las Vegas in 2003, which ignited his passion to continue dancing this form. His most influential instructors have been: “Los Totis”, Julio Balmaceda, Fernanda y Guillermo, Tomas Howlin, Maximilano Cristiani, and Graciela Gonzalez.
Mr. Oramas lives, teaches, and hosts events in Phoenix, AZ. He is often invited to teach at tango festivals throughout the US. In 2012 he and his partner received 2nd place in the US Argentine Tango Salon Championships in San Francisco and placed 3rd in New York City in 2013.
Mr. Oramas stresses the fundamentals of Argentine Tango as the basis and framework to understanding how to dance.
