As the official school of Ballet Arizona, and under the direction of Carlos Valcárcel (School Director) and world renowned dancer and choreographer, Ib Andersen (Ballet Arizona Artistic Director), The School of Ballet Arizona provides dance training based on the evolving, yet traditional, concepts of classical ballet. Offering a wide variety of classes across a range of ages and skill levels, The School of Ballet Arizona is proud to offer comprehensive dance training that meets the expectations of professional dance companies, as well as those looking to dance as a supplement to enrich their lives.

School Director Carlos Valcárcel introduces a dance curriculum including, but not limited to: Classical Ballet in a graded program for children to young adults, Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Character, and Men’s classes. This comprehensive syllabus has been developed to maintain the fundamental aspects of classical ballet technique and offer the highest quality training at every level, in every program, through:

  • Internationally renowned faculty
  • Live piano accompaniment for all ballet classes
  • Performing opportunities with Ballet Arizona, such as The Nutcracker, and other productions
  • A unique connection to Ballet Arizona as Arizona’s official Ballet Company

Graduates of The School of Ballet Arizona have gone on to successful careers in various areas. Many have gone on to dance professionally with companies such as American Ballet Theatre, Royal Ballet of Flanders, Boston Ballet, and Ballet Arizona. Currently, several alumni of The School have several students continuing their studies at internationally recognized schools such as The School of American Ballet, The Ailey School, and Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School.
