Announcing New Classes!

Thursdays from 6:30-8pm, a Horton Technique class will be taught by Kleiton Sistélos!
HORTON is a form of modern dance, developed by Lester Horton (1906-1953), an American dancer, teacher, and choreographer. He created this technique as an anatomical approach to creating a well-rounded healthy dancer. Horton incorporates Native American folk dance, Japanese arm gestures, Javanese and Balinese isolations, and Afro-Caribbean elements.

American Tribal Style® belly dance is a modern style of dance created by FatChanceBellyDance(FCBD®) director, Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman.  ATS® is a defined set of movements rooted in the traditional dances of North Africa, Central Asia and India.

In Beginner ATS® class, learn to belly dance by drilling the basics in fun combinations. Using both slow movements and fast steps we’ll get you dancing in your first class!  Each class will include warm up and stretch, posture, one slow move, one fast move, body awareness, and plenty of drills. You are welcome to drop-in as we have plenty of review built into each class. Beginner ATS® will also introduce you to partner and group dancing.
Attendance to the Intermediate and Advanced class is by faculty approval.

Open Class FAQ’s

Do I need to enroll or sign up ahead of time?
Not at all, as this is an open program. Simply come to the class when you’d like and sign in at that time. Your first time taking class will only involve completing a 1-page basic information form.

Is there a dress code?
For Ballet, we do ask that you have ballet slippers on for ballet class.  Ladies need to have their hair in a bun, neat and off the face.  Men also need to have their hair off the face as well. You may wear a leotard and tights or anything exercise related that is comfortable that you can move in.  For men that wear tights, a dance belt is required.

For ATS® Bellydance, appropriate dress includes full skirt or yoga pants, short top, tank top or leotard (wear something comfortable that conforms to your body so you can see yourself move) and optional hip scarf.  You may take class in bare feet or wearing dance shoes. Hair tied up off the face and neck.

For Zumba, light tread sneakers are recommended.

For Jazz, jazz shoes are recommended but not required.

For Ballroom, something comfortable and that you can move in, that ideally has a leather or worn-out sole. You want to be able to feel the floor versus sticking to the floor. NO flip-flops or clogs, strappy sandals, or open-toed shoes.

For Modern, you may take class bare footed or with ballet/jazz shoes.

Can I pay with credit card?
Yes you may. A $1 fee is charged for paying for single classes with a card.
