Serenade
Momumentum pro Gesualdo/Movements for Piano and Orchestra
The Four Temperaments
Leading off this all-George Balanchine program that celebrate the choreographer’s contributions to ballet in the 20th century is Serenade, the first and most popular original ballet Balanchine created in America. The electric and intricate Monumentum pro Gesualdo and Movements for Piano and Orchestra exhibit the dynamic talents of the Ballet Arizona dancers. The finale on this program is one of Balanchine’s most popular ballets, The Four Temperaments.
“One of the most striking developments in modern ballet is that there is now a trans-American, even trans-global, Balanchine diaspora. Ballet Arizona ranks among the most significant.”
