Atsunari Matsuyama began his ballet training at six years old. For years, he participated in several ballet competitions in Japan. At the Tokyo City Ballet competition, he was awarded a scholarship to the San Francisco Ballet School. At fifteen, he moved to the United States to train with them full-time. There, he participated in productions with the school and company.
Atsunari joined the Ballet Arizona Studio Company for the 2019-2020 season and performed principal roles with the school and roles with the company.
Some of his repertory at Ballet Arizona includes Balanchine’s Theme and Variations, Ib Andersen’s The Nutcracker and A Midsummer’s Night Dream.
