Adaptive Dance for Down Syndrome

The Adaptive Dance Program at Ballet Arizona is designed to create a class environment that is sensitive to the needs of students with Down syndrome while nurturing their self-expression and developing their movement, social, and rhythmic skills. This program is for students ages 5-22.

The Adaptive Dance progam runs in three seasonal sessions throughout the year. Below are the current session dates for the 24-25 season.

 

SPRING: February 15th – May 10th

(No class on March 15, April 12, and April 19)

Michelle has experience dancing, choreographing, and working with students from a diverse range of ages and abilities. She has participated in Boston Ballet’s Adaptive Dance Teacher Training and will be working regularly with Miss Kay throughout the year.

All classes take place on Saturdays at The School of Ballet Arizona (in-person) 

Sessions run every Saturday during Fall, Spring and Summer sessions.

Class time: 9:00 am-9:45 am

Recommended ages:5-8 years old

Tuition: $115.00

Focuses on the basics of controlled and coordinated movement – developing balance, coordination, stamina, and focus. Class focus is on skill-building and stamina.

 

If your dancer is registered in AD 1, parent or guardian participation is mandatory at all classes. This ensures the best possible experience for your dancer throughout the session. If a parent or guardian is unable to participate, your dancer will not be able to attend class that day. All participating caretakers must be at least 18 years old.

Sessions run every Saturday during Fall, Spring and Summer sessions.

Class time: 10:00 am-10:45 am

Instructor: Michelle Reissig

Recommended ages: 9-12 years old

Tuition: $115.00

Builds on the concepts taught in AD 1 and incorporates more complex sequencing, longer dance periods, more traditional classical movements, and requires a higher amount of self-control. Caregiver attendance is to be determined at the discretion of the instructor. Class focus is on skill-building, technique mastery, and stamina.

All classes take place on Saturdays at The School of Ballet Arizona (in-person)

Sessions run every Saturday during Fall, Spring and Summer sessions.

Class time:11:00am-11:45am

Instructor: Michelle Reissig

Recommended ages: 13-16 years old

Tuition: $115.00

Caregiver attendance is to be determined at the discretion of the instructor. Class focus is on skill-building, technique mastery, and stamina.
