Summary/Objective:

The School Assistant provides outstanding customer service to students, parents, patrons, and staff, and acts as an ambassador for the School of Ballet Arizona and its community programming. The Assistant’s primary duty is to provide administrative support and must maintain knowledge of the SBAZ mission, policies, and programs and effectively communicate this information when appropriate. The Assistant will provide reception support and maintenance of registration and attendance records. In every situation, the Assistant must project a positive image of the School.

 

This is a part-time position that requires evenings and weekends, with a varied schedule due to class needs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Reception, Records Administration, Scheduling, Coordination of teaching and musical staff, Registration/Enrollment, and Accounting.

Essential Functions:

  • Unlocks door for and greets parents, students, program clients and guests as they enter the building.
  • Answers phone calls, emails, and general inquiries.  Escalates messages and issues to staff as appropriate.
  • Works with the security guard to supervise during student drop off and pick up.
  • Supervises class check-in and takes payment for classes as required.
  • Serves as an information resource for our school families and other guests.
  • Addresses student/parent/faculty needs as able during shifts.
  • Performs other administrative tasks as assigned.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a high level of digital literacy, be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and be comfortable working with databases.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities at once.
  • Ability to handle business matters professionally and confidentially.
  • Consistent reliability in attendance and job performance.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.

Supervisory responsibilities:

 

  • This position does not have any direct reports.

Work Environment: 

 

  • Work is conducted primarily in an office setting.  Event support at the main office location and at external event sites is occasionally required.
  • Some weekends, nights, or on-call work are occasionally required.

Physical Demands:

 

  • Physical requirements include sitting for long periods of time and heavy computer usage.
  • Light physical effort is required – must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.

Travel Required:

 

  • Travel to and from external event sites (within Maricopa County) is occasionally required. 
  • Must be willing and able to commute to and from the office on a regular basis. 

Required Education and Experience: 

 

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education and Experience:

 

  • At least 1 year of work experience in a customer-service oriented role
