Let’s Get Ready for Ballet Under the Stars!

Learn About Ballet Under the Stars & Class Act

Every year, as the early days of fall arrive, Arizona residents eagerly gather at their local parks to experience one of the most cherished performances hosted by Ballet Arizona: Ballet Under the Stars.

Presented by the Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation, Ballet Under the Stars brings communities together under the enchanting Sonoran skies to enjoy free performances featuring a range of repertoire by Ballet Arizona’s professional dancers. These performances occur at local parks in four partner cities across the Valley, giving a sneak peek at the forthcoming season while offering the opportunity to revel in this captivating art form alongside friends and family, all at no expense.

Throughout each performance, audiences members immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere, indulging in offerings from local vendors while witnessing the dancers prepare on stage. As twilight descends, performances featuring each style of ballet take the stage, from classical works to contemporary ballet, to iconic pieces by George Balanchine; there is something for every member of the audience!

Alongside the professional dancers there is also one special performance given by a very unique group of dancers: students from the Class Act program.

Class Act is an opportunity for elementary school students to collaborate directly with Ballet Arizona’s dancers to create a dance that takes center stage at Ballet Under the Stars. These students come from one partner school each in each city and spend three hours to learn ballet steps, pick their music, and create their own unique work that they proudly performance for the audience.
