The School of Ballet Arizona is proud to offer a program based on the successful Adaptive Dance Program of Boston Ballet for children ages 5 – 18.
The Adaptive Dance Program at Ballet Arizona is designed to create a class environment that is sensitive to the needs of students with Down syndrome while nurturing their self-expression and developing their movement, social, and rhythmic skills.

AD Foundations 1 (45 min)
All classes take place on Saturdays at The School of Ballet Arizona (in-person)
Session runs Saturdays from 6/17/23 – 7/22/23
Class time: 9:00 am – 9:45 am
Instructor: Michelle Reissig
Focuses on the basics of controlled and coordinated movement – developing balance, coordination, stamina, and focus. A caregiver must be present and attend each class with their student. Class focus is on skill-building and stamina. Tuition: $115.00
AD Foundations 2 (45 min)
All classes take place on Saturdays at The School of Ballet Arizona (in-person)
Session runs Saturdays from 6/17/23 – 7/22/23
Class time: 10:00 am – 10:45 am
Instructor: Michelle Reissig
Builds on the concepts taught in Foundation 1 and incorporates more complex sequencing, longer dance periods, more traditional classical movements, and requires a higher amount of self-control. Caregiver attendance is to be determined at the discretion of the instructor. Class focus is on skill-building, technique mastery, and stamina. Tuition: $115.00
Adaptive Classical (45 min)
All classes take place on Saturdays at The School of Ballet Arizona (in-person)
This class is by audition placement only and at the discretion of the instructor.
Session runs Saturdays from 6/17/23 – 7/22/23
Class Time: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Instructor: Michelle Reissig
Incorporates a more traditional classical ballet class progression with dancers beginning at the barre and transitioning to dancing in the center. Students are expected to be able to self-manage, take verbal directions, apply corrections, and exhibit respect for the classroom, the instructor, other students, and the work. Caregiver attendance is to be determined at the discretion of the instructor. Class focus is on skill-building, technique mastery, performance-quality work, and stamina. Tuition: $135.00
