Under the expertise of School Director Carlos Valcárcel, experience the highest caliber of intensive classical training in state-of-the-art studios. You will train with world-class instructors and dance with live music accompaniment.
Focus on techniques and skills.
You will receive a well-rounded dance education focusing on technique and artistry. Your class placement will facilitate the improvement of your dance skills, where the only competition you face is with yourself.
Choreograph a ballet.
With the guidance of the faculty you will work with your assigned team to choreograph a brand new ballet. The piece of music will be selected by your instructors. You will present your ballet to your peers and the winning piece will be performed during the Summer Intensive Showcase.
Perform in SBAZ’s Summer Intensive Showcase
All students will perform classical and contemporary works in our on-site professional theatre during the Summer Intensive Showcase.

About The Summer Intensive
The Summer Intensive offers serious ballet students the highest caliber of intensive classical training, augmented by a rich diversity of dance forms necessary to meet the eclectic demands of dance companies today.
The School of Ballet Arizona’s summer program offers six full weeks of intensive classes. Our program offers students ages 11 + the opportunity to make advances in technique and in the way they dance as they are taught by internationally renowned faculty from The Stuttgart Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet de Camagüey of Cuba, The Joffrey Ballet, Ballet Nacional de Cuba, The National Ballet of Canada and The Pennsylvania Ballet!
Our summer intensive gives students a real feel for Phoenix living and what life is like with the School of Ballet Arizona family. Students will have classes five days a week as well activities during the weekends. Courses offered are ballet technique, pointe, pas de deux, men’s technique, variations, repertory and BAZ’s repertory, men’s conditioning, dance history, flamenco, strength and conditioning, modern, jazz, ballroom, and choreography.
