Celebrating the Generosity Behind Ballet Arizona on National Philanthropy Day

The Community that Brings our Mission to Life

This year, on National Philanthropy Day, we are taking a moment to honor the generosity and passion of those who bring Ballet Arizona’s mission, to ignite the human spirit through the magic of dance to life. Behind every performance, community engagement program, or student discovering their love of dance, there is a community of supporters who believe in the power of the arts.

Executive Director, Jami Kozemczak shared in our recent donor impact report, “From volunteers and donors to our Board of Directors and staff, you choose to spend your time with Ballet Arizona in deeply meaningful ways. That commitment has built an ecosystem here—a community woven together by those who engage with us so wholeheartedly.”

Why We Give

In celebration this day of gratitude, Contemporary Council member, Allison Siller, spoke about what inspires her giving and personal connection to Ballet Arizona.

Q: What inspires you to support Ballet Arizona, and what does this organization mean to you personally?

A: I am inspired to support Ballet Arizona because I believe in the power of the performing arts to transform lives and enrich our community. I have always loved music and dance, but there was no access to a professional ballet company where I grew up. As one of our city’s cultural jewels, I was initially drawn to Ballet Arizona because I wanted to experience the magic of dance in a way that was not available to me as a child. What keeps me coming back every season is Ballet Arizona’s commitment to celebrating both classical and contemporary ballet through artistry, excellence, and accessibility.

Q: Why do you feel philanthropy, especially in the arts, is important, and what impact do you hope your giving makes at Ballet Arizona and in our community?

A: Every single member of our community, regardless of their background, deserves to experience the magic of dance, and philanthropy is the key to keeping the performing arts accessible and welcoming to all. The more involved I became with Ballet Arizona, the more I learned about their commitment to “ballet for everyone” through programs like Community Angel Night and Ballet Under the Stars. I choose to give because I know that with each performance, Ballet Arizona is changing our city and our community for the better.

National Philanthropy Day reminds us that the impact of philanthropic efforts goes far beyond our stage. Philanthropy ensures that we continue to produce high quality art on stage, but also empowers our dancers, while sustaining the administrative staff who work endlessly behind the scenes to bring our mission to life- your giving touches every corner of our organization. We are deeply grateful to everyone whose generosity keeps Ballet Arizona thriving.
